Entry Level Consulting Roles | Global Opportunities

Your gateway to consulting opportunites for undergraduates, master’s and advanced degree students in BCG's offices worldwide.

Eligibility and Timelines

As a student, there are two main consulting pathways into BCG: internship programmes and full-time graduate roles.

As requirements differ by location, for full details on eligibility criteria, application timelines and role availability, please refer to the local offices’ careers pages, linked in the international applications section below.

Internships

Internship opportunities are typically aimed at penultimate-year students. Roles include Summer Associates (SAs)  (~8–12 weeks, Jun–Aug) and Visiting Associates (VAs) (year-round, variable length).

In these roles, you'll play a pivotal role in collaborative teams, identifying, developing and implementing solutions for client challenges. You’ll embark on a journey of exploration and innovation, pushing boundaries to drive impactful change.

Full-time roles

Full-time (FT) roles are typically open to final-year students and recent graduates. Roles include Associates (bachelor’s and master’s students) and Senior Associates (typically PhD students and junior experienced hires).

Our entry-level consulting roles offer structured training, rapid skill development, collaboration with diverse teams to analyse complex challenges and deliver actionable solutions, and clear progression with continuous learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, there is a separate application for each office, you may apply to up to four offices at once, though we recommend applying to three.
  • You will be required to select your 1st and 2nd choice office preferences in your profile.
  • Your application preferences need to match profile preferences, so make sure they are up to date and don’t change between applications.
  • Once you apply all offices will be able to see your application but only 1 office can move forward with your application. The order which you rank the offices in your profile will be the order we can review your application.

  • You can track your application status on the BCG Careers Portal, which provides updates such as "Application Under Review," "Interview," and "Offer Extended." This ensures transparency and allows you to stay updated on your recruitment journey.
  • The local recruiting team will also email updates at each stage of the recruitment process.

  • Yes, you can reapply to the same office. However, we expect candidates to gain significant experience before reapplying, typically waiting a year after your last interview or application rejection. Exceptions include unsuccessful summer internship candidates applying for full-time positions.
  • We believe in the ability to develop and improve talent and are happy to see candidates return to recruitment processes.

  • We strongly recommend applying to the office where you wish to work full-time. Transferring offers is rare and usually requires restarting the recruitment process with your preferred office.

  • BCG will assist employees with obtaining the necessary work permits, when applicable. Ultimately, visa approval is up to the local government. While we provide extensive support throughout the visa process, we cannot guarantee visa approval.
  • For more location-specific questions on visa sponsorship, please reach out to the UKI recruiting team (contact details below).

  • In almost all circumstances, yes. Only on very rare occasions are BCGers able to work in a region where they do not speak the local language. Please look at the language requirements for each office in the Language Requirement Section above.

  • Think carefully about where you genuinely want to live and work after university. Start by considering your long-term career goals and whether certain geographies align with your industry interests (e.g. tech, finance, public sector). Factor in language fluency and visa eligibility, as many offices require local language proficiency. Office culture also varies—large regional hubs offer breadth of PAs (e.g.London, New York), while smaller offices may offer a tight-knit environment and faster visibility. Finally, attend events hosted by our international offices to meet BCGers, learn more about the exciting work we deliver across regions and make an informed choice.

  • Cover letters are optional, but they complement your CV and allow you to share your interest and motivation, including why BCG, why the location, why consulting and why you.
  • Focus on using your cover letter not to repeat information that we have already read on your resume, but to add additional context.
  • You can attach a cover letter in your candidate profile in the "Resumes and Other Documents" section.

  • If your question is specific to a local office, we recommend checking the office websites linked above. If you are still unable to find the answer, we recommend trying to contact a local recruiter from that office.
  • In some cases, your school's career services may also be able to support you with finding the answers to your questions about BCG
