Does BCG offer consulting internships?

BCG offers consulting internships that provide hands-on experience in various areas, including strategy, data science, engineering, and design. As a consulting intern, you’ll collaborate with diverse teams to solve complex problems and engage directly with clients. These internships typically last two to three months, though some may extend up to a year, depending on the role and location.

Does BCG offer non-consulting internships?

BCG provides non-consulting internships within its business services teams, such as risk management, marketing, finance, and human resources. These internships offer opportunities to develop your skills and contribute to the success of our teams. The duration of these internships varies by role and location, ranging from a few weeks to up to a year.

We understand that work isn’t one-size-fits-all. Depending on your role and location, we offer flexible and hybrid work options. All employees can request part-time hours, personal leave, or time to pursue their passions. Options like reduced hours, short-term leaves, and flexible work locations are also available.

Our global network is one of our core strengths, with more than 100 offices in over 50 countries, we offer a variety of ways to work internationally, particularly within our consulting careers. Each opportunity has different requirements and timelines; you’ll need to discuss your international ambitions with your recruiter. Availability will typically depend on your role, location, and business needs, and we will consider personal preferences and circumstances – it's a two-way conversation. 

When setting up a profile to apply for a job or attend an event, you will be asked if you’d like to relocate to a particular region. We may use your answer to consider you for additional opportunities within BCG if you’re suitable. 

Temporary transfers: Many of our consultants seek temporary transfers, usually for a few months to a year, to gain experience in a new market or support specific client needs. These are often organized locally with approval from regional leadership.
 
  • Global Ambassador Program: This program allows consultants to spend up to a year working in a BCG office abroad, typically in a region where the firm needs additional support. It’s a great way to experience new cultures and work on global cases.
 
  • Client engagements abroad: BCG often provides opportunities for consultants to take on projects that require expertise or assistance in other countries or regions. These can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on the scope.
 
  • Permanent transfers: For consultants interested in a more long-term international experience, there are options to apply for a permanent transfer to a different office. This is generally based on mutual fit, including alignment with the host office’s needs and your career goals.
 
  • Secondments: BCG also offers secondments, where you can work directly with a client or within an external organization in another country for an extended period, which can enhance your expertise in specific industries or markets.
 
  • Cross-office projects: Many BCG projects involve cross-office teams, which allow you to work closely with international colleagues even if you aren’t physically relocating. It’s a valuable way to develop global exposure without needing to move.

Application Process

Experienced hire candidates are encouraged to only apply for one position at a time to demonstrate focus and commitment. 

Students or recent graduates can apply for more than one position but will be restricted to a maximum of four open applications at once. 

Can I apply to roles across multiple regions? 

You may want to apply to roles in different regions, we advise you to focus on a maximum of two location preferences to streamline the process. You should consider the role and its location carefully before applying, as this can affect the outcome of your application.

If I have been rejected, can I reapply?

You can only apply for a specific role once; you will not be able to resubmit applications so please consider your responses thoughtfully. If you have been unsuccessful for a role, but wish to reapply, we recommend waiting at least 12 months before doing so, to ensure you have enough time to demonstrate your additional experiences and growth.
