What to Expect from BCG Unlock

BCG Unlock is a summer learning program designed to introduce incoming MBA students to the people, perspectives, and experiences that make BCG unique. Through a series of virtual sessions, participants gain an early look at consulting while building skills and expanding their network ahead of the fall recruiting and internship season.

Throughout the program, participants engage in candid conversations with BCG consultants and leaders while connecting with fellow incoming MBA students. You will explore how BCG teams combine deep industry expertise with advanced digital capabilities to help clients tackle some of the world’s most complex challenges.

Participants also hear directly from current BCGers about the opportunities, support systems, and tools that help our people grow and thrive. Each session is designed to give you space to ask questions, gain insight into the consulting experience, and learn more about life at BCG.

BCG Unlock programming is optional and fully virtual, making it easy to participate alongside summer internships or full-time work while exploring what a future at BCG could look like.

Who Should Register for BCG Unlock?
BCG Unlock is primarily designed for participants enrolled in a two-year MBA program who will begin their first year in fall 2026 and are interested in pursuing a summer 2027 internship with BCG.

Because BCG Unlock focuses on preparing participants for the internship recruiting path that leads to full-time consulting roles, the program is intended for first-year MBA candidates rather than second-year or Executive MBA students.

When registering for BCG Unlock, please use your school email address if it is already available to you.

We welcome registrations from all pre-MBA students and especially encourage students from the programs listed below to register.

Unlocking Diverse Talent
At BCG, we believe the best ideas come from teams that bring together people with diverse backgrounds, expertise, and experiences. Bringing together different perspectives strengthens how we think, collaborate, and solve our clients’ most complex challenges.

We engage talented students early in their MBA journey while continuing to build a community where people feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute and thrive.
BCG Empower
BCG Empower, part of BCG Unlock, is designed for incoming MBA students who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing BCG’s values through leadership, workplace efforts, or community involvement.

Through BCG Empower, participants connect with members of our host networks—Black@BCG, Latin@BCG, and Indigenous@BCG—and build relationships with consultants who bring a wide range of perspectives and experiences to the firm. These communities help strengthen connection and support across BCG and are open to all BCGers who are interested in engaging with and contributing to them.

Frequently Asked Questions

BCG Unlock is a fully virtual program designed to meet the needs of busy pre-MBA candidates.

The program will kick off in June, with virtual events running throughout the summer into early August. Most sessions are scheduled during the lunch hour or early evening (North American time zones) and typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour.

While we encourage participants to attend as many BCG Unlock sessions as possible, we understand that summer schedules can be unpredictable. If you’re unable to attend every session, that’s okay. Participation in BCG Unlock does not impact your candidacy for future internship or full-time opportunities at BCG. There will be many opportunities to connect with us again during the MBA recruiting season.

To join BCG Unlock, simply submit your resume and complete the BCG Unlock Registration Form by May 18th, 2026.

Tips for preparing your resume:
You are welcome to use the resume you submitted for your MBA application, or you can refresh it to better reflect your most recent experiences and achievements.

At BCG, we hire talented individuals from a broad range of backgrounds, expertise, and experiences. We value candidates who demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, leadership, initiative, and the ability to create impact across different environments.

These experiences may come from internships, part-time roles, research, volunteer leadership, military service, or other meaningful pursuits.

As you update your resume, consider highlighting:
  • Roles you’ve held and what you accomplished
  • How you collaborated with others to achieve results
  • Skills you developed and experiences that shaped your growth
  • Leadership, service work, or interests that reflect who you are

We’re interested in the full picture of what you bring — both inside and outside of traditional business environments.

When you register for BCG Unlock, you will be asked to share your top office preferences. These preferences are flexible and intended to help guide connections rather than determine outcomes.

Sharing your interests allows us to better understand where you may want to build your career and helps us connect you with the right people and opportunities across BCG.

As you think about your preferences, consider where you might see yourself living and working after your MBA — cities where you have personal ties, professional interests, or simply a strong sense of belonging.

Through BCG Unlock, you will have the opportunity to learn more about different offices and begin building relationships with BCGers across our global network

After registering for BCG Unlock, you will begin receiving updates about upcoming program sessions, event invitations, and opportunities to connect with BCG consultants and leaders throughout the summer.

Beginning in June, you will have the opportunity to participate in a series of virtual sessions designed to help you learn more about BCG, build connections with members of the firm, and gain insight into the consulting experience ahead of the fall MBA recruiting season.

Completing the Consulting Career Assessment (CCA)

After registering for BCG Unlock, eligible candidates interested in U.S. or Canadian offices will complete BCG’s Consulting Career Assessment (CCA). The CCA is a short online exercise designed to demonstrate how you approach real-world problem solving. No preparation is required, and the assessment takes approximately 30 minutes to complete in a quiet environment with a reliable internet connection.

Your score will already be on file should you decide to apply to BCG during the fall MBA recruiting season, and you would not need to complete the assessment again. Your CCA results will be considered alongside the rest of your application in the fall.

If you have completed the CCA within the last 12 months, there is no need to take it again. Your existing score will automatically be linked to your profile.

BCG Empower is part of the broader BCG Unlock program.

It is designed for incoming Class of 2028 full-time MBA students who are interested in connecting with members of our Black@BCG, Latin@BCG, and Indigenous@BCG networks. Participants in BCG Empower are selected from the BCG Unlock participant pool. There is no separate registration process.
