You've been at BCG for eight years; how would you describe your journey here?

Since I was very young, I have had very high expectations for my future. I always chased the challenge. When I had to choose my career path and university, I remember looking at the most competitive practices with a bit of fear but much excitement. Ultimately, I’m glad I went for Corporate Finance at Bocconi University because it gave me the skills and the attitude to build the professional life I envisioned.

After my master’s degree, I remember wanting to enter strategic consultancy from the start. But I had this feeling of not being enough, so I decided to start work elsewhere to build up my experience. Those five years before BCG really accelerated my personal and professional growth. I learned the importance of working in a team and how to handle projects and deliver value to clients worldwide. That experience helped me build up my confidence and understand that I’ve always been up to the task, even in a competitive and male-dominated technical field such as Risk Management. So, I finally took the leap and entered strategic consultancy at BCG!

What is your life like outside of work?

When I'm not working, I love doing simple things like organizing dinner with friends or just staying home with my daughter Bianca. It may sound simple, but with so much complex stuff going on at work, this is just what makes sense to me. I always took pride in building a successful and impactful career, but it wouldn’t have worked out if I hadn’t had people at home cheering for me and reminding me of my priorities.

As a practice leader, I would be lying if I said my working hours weren’t challenging sometimes. Still, since I joined BCG, I have met colleagues who are on the same page about prioritizing work-life balance and found a positive and genuine company culture. In difficult times, you can ask and, for sure, be listened to. We encourage each other daily to pay attention to our workload and take some time off when needed, which feels reassuring when things get tough. And when we need extra support, we can use the company’s flexibility programs to really customize our career journey. When I needed more time for my family, I took the option to have my Friday afternoon off for a time. I think BCG has very dedicated leaders who invest in their employees’ well-being , provide professional support, and help them work smarter and live better.

Looking back, how would you reflect on your career journey and achievements? Do they match your young self's expectations?

One of the most challenging and rewarding projects was a significant remediation for a global bank. The client had high expectations and was in desperate need of someone to mobilize internal resources and move things forward effectively. Though it wasn’t always simple, it was very rewarding to be able to provide that service to the client. I saw how much we could accomplish with hard work and dedication.
