How I’m Driving Business forward in Africa

I’ve always been business-oriented and keen to use my skills to help businesses thrive. I have a bachelor’s degree in economics and econometrics, with honors in economics, from the University of Johannesburg. Eager to put my degree to use after graduating, I started my professional career at Econometrix, South Africa's leading independent economic consultancy firm, as an economic analyst. Then I transitioned to work as an economist at an economic and risk research company, Pan-African Capital Holdings.

South African macroeconomic issues and industry trends, particularly within the southern region of the African continent, quickly became my calling. I knew BCG could offer me the opportunity to expand my reach and deepen my expertise within the broader African continent. But, I was also keen to gain exposure to other functional and industry topics, so I could grow on a more professional and personal level. BCG was the perfect fit for me.

No Data, No Problem

Now based out of Johannesburg, South Africa, I work in a region characterized by data scarcity—but I revel in the challenges presented to me. What I like most about my job is being able to help case teams navigate toward valuable insights. I enjoy being a thought partner to these teams and having the opportunity to continuously learn about new and interesting topics. The problems we solve are challenging and complex, but what I learn from them is always rewarding. The entrepreneurial aspect of being a knowledge partner is also appealing to me; it’s allowed me to drive topics and propose and push new ideas that I never had the opportunity to do before coming to BCG.

I have made a great impact in making Africa more visible and accessible to BCG by reducing the complexity of undertaking projects. The individuals I work with are passionate about driving business forward in Africa, and so I’ve had success helping them—particularly multinationals—increase their business operations and reach in Africa.

A Team that Inspires

I’m inspired each day by the work we do at BCG and the people I work with. My fellow BCGers continuously support me and show immense appreciation for my work. It is richly rewarding when you feel that you are always treated as a valued member of the team and have partners reach out to you for your expertise.

My job has also exposed me to many different cultures through a working team of analysts spread across different continents, case teams across our global offices, and the ability to travel to many different countries.
