We connected with her to learn more about her experience working across BCG offices and how Women@BCG has inspired her confidence and leadership style.

My transition to our Brooklyn office

In September 2024, I transitioned from the BCG Hub in Atlanta to the Brooklyn office, which has brought about a significant shift in both my work environment and how I interact with my team and stakeholders. One of the most notable changes has been the difference in office dynamics. While the Nexus Atlanta office had a team of about 270 Administrative Assistants/Executive Assistants, the Brooklyn office is much smaller, our team consists of just four Executive Assistants. In fact, we have more assistants in the Atlanta office than we have employees in Brooklyn.

My first reaction to this change was “Wow, it’s quiet here.” This quieter environment has given me more time and space to focus, and it’s allowed me to develop deeper, more personal relationships with the core members of my stakeholders' teams. Instead of being just a name in an email or a Slack message, I have the opportunity to meet with people face-to-face over coffee or lunch.

This shift in dynamic has been incredibly rewarding, as I feel more connected to my colleagues and the work we’re doing. The move to a smaller office has also changed how I view my role in the broader project teams. Being physically closer to the consultants, sitting just a few desks away from them, has made me feel more involved in the projects and the day-to-day activities. I now have greater opportunities to actively participate and contribute in ways that were less accessible to me before. I’m not just an assistant managing schedules or logistics; I have the ability to get more integrated into the work itself, building relationships and gaining a deeper understanding of the business.

This transition has truly reshaped my experience at BCG, and I am excited to continue growing in my role. While I miss the larger administrative community from the Atlanta office, the close-knit, high-touch environment in Brooklyn has given me a unique opportunity to expand my skill set, build more meaningful relationships, and play a more involved role within the team.

What Women@BCG means to me

My first job out of high school was in sales and customer service, in an office where women were the minority as there were just three of us on the New Zealand team. When I moved from New Zealand to the U.S. and later joined BCG, stepping into a corporate environment after time away, Women@BCG changed everything for me. Instead of competition, I found a community of women at all stages of their careers who were committed to lifting each other up.

My first real exposure to the affiliation beyond joining came through one of the executives I supported, who was deeply involved in the Women@BCG affiliation. I got to see the impact of this community up close, from how it fostered mentorship and built meaningful connections across the firm. Over time, I found my own place within this network, first as someone looking up to inspiring women, and then, as I grew in my own journey, becoming someone others could turn to for guidance.

Women@BCG has given me more than just a network, it has provided a space where I can be both supported and supportive, where I can learn from others while also passing on what I’ve gained. It has played a key role in shaping my confidence, my leadership style, and my belief in the power of community. In many ways, it has mirrored my overall experience at BCG, reinforcing that true impact isn’t just about individual success but about how we show up for others along the way.

Modeling authenticity and integrity

During my time at BCG, I've been honored to receive two awards that have influenced both my professional journey and my perspective on leadership and impact. In 2023, I was recognized with "The Trendsetter" award at the Nexus Atlanta first annual Women@BCG Awards Gala. This award celebrated my professional brand, highlighting not only my confidence and experience but also my ability to serve as a role model for others. I was recognized for bringing a unique blend of professionalism, style, and authenticity into the workplace, and this recognition affirmed the importance of understanding how to stand out at work by embracing individuality in all aspects of my work.

Later that year, I was humbled to receive the globally recognized Key to Purpose award for Drive Inspired Impact. This award, which reflects BCG’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in everything we do, reinforced my belief in the power of integrity and authenticity at work in driving lasting change. Both awards have reshaped my perspective on how I approach my work. They remind me that it’s essential to stay true to myself, especially in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Authenticity isn’t just about being genuine, it’s about encouraging others to bring their full selves to work, to shine through their individuality, and to never lose sight of who they are amidst the day-to-day challenges. In a world that increasingly values efficiency, I think it’s important to remember that we are all human, and our unique qualities should be celebrated, not hidden.

These awards have shown me that no matter how large the organization or how busy the environment, individuality is always noticed. Whether in a team of 600+ people or within a company of 30,000, your personality and professionalism can and will set you apart.

My approach to work continues to be focused on inspiring those around me to maintain that sense of self, while still driving impact and success. Ultimately, I hope to continue to be a reminder that we can achieve excellence without losing who we are and that everyone can make an impactful difference, even in a crowd.
